Aqua Ignis

A hot spring resort with healing and food as its theme

Aqua Ignis is a hot spring resort complex that combines the “healing” of Kataoka Onsen (hot spring) with 100% free-flowing hot spring water, accommodation, and a detached inn, and the “cuisine” of Japan’s top chefs and sweets, all on a large site of approximately 49,000 m2 surrounded by nature.

Kataoka Onsen is a natural hot spring that is 100% free-flowing from the source, with no added water, heating, or circulation.

The hot spring water flows at a rate of 780 liters per minute from 1,200 meters underground to a temperature of exactly 42 degrees Celsius at the hot spring outlet. It is also used as a luxurious shower.

It is an alkaline simple hot spring with soft, slippery water and a faint scent of sulfur.

From the open-air bathtubs, visitors can enjoy a view of the illuminated bamboo grove while feeling the Japanese atmosphere.

There is a strawberry house and a vegetable garden on the grounds, where visitors can taste the harvested delicacies.

The restaurant features sweets and stone oven bread by Hirohiro Tsujiguchi, one of Japan’s leading pastry chefs; Masayuki Okuda, a world-renowned Italian chef; and Japanese cuisine by Masahiro Kasahara, a Japanese chef whose two restaurants are hard to get a reservation.

Visitors can fully enjoy both day trips and overnight stays.
