Within the precincts of Baoshuzan Daikanyinji Temple, there is a museum that houses the one and only replica of a work from the Louvre Museum in Paris that has been completely reprinted.
The Louvre replicas that can be viewed in the museum are reprinted works created by the skilled technical team of the art department of the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Visitors can experience world-famous sculptures such as Nike of Samothrace, Venus de Milo, and the Mask of Tutankhamen in Japan. And to our delight, visitors are allowed to take photographs of the works in the museum.
Furthermore, the permanent collection includes not only works from the Louvre, but also from the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other famous museums in Europe and the United States.
The building was designed by Kisho Kurokawa, a leading Japanese architect who designed the National Art Center, Tokyo, among others.
Interestingly, because it is adjacent to the temple, the museum also exhibits original works of art from the “Louvre Sculpture Museum” that are not part of the original Louvre’s collection, as well as replicas of works from other famous museums.
The Louvre Sculpture Museum is like a different space. You may encounter works of art that can only be seen here.
We invite you to visit this unique museum and experience the fascination of sculptures. You will be fascinated by the historical masterpieces.
